The EmpowerMediaNetwork (EMN) was born out of the ever growing interest young people show towards digital media and the web. It is an international network of youth workers, media practitioner and young people who use digital media as a tool for youth and community empowerment. EMN was developed within the Youth Empowerment Partnership Programme which is supported by a number of European and American foundations and is being implemented in 16 sites in 6 countries.

 Our Vision

We envision a society where there are equal opportunities for all (young) people to contribute to and shape society. Where (young) people are enabled to create their own images, that reflect their identity.

 Our Values

  • Equality of all Human Beings
  • Respect of Human Rights
  • Participation and Active Citizenship of (young) people to the society and their local community
  • Creative expression
  • Sustainable development
  • Development of a true sense of community as opposed to individualistic behaviour

 Our Mission

EMN is an international media and youth empowerment network developed within the YEPP programme. It recognises the competences and skill of young people and supports them to express themselves through digital media / video, which they develop and share both at a local and transnational level using non-formal learning methodologies. EMN is inclusive by nature and aims at providing equal chances to young people by organizing workshops, competitions and transnational exchanges.

EMN promotes the use of the new digital tools such as mobile videophones, small cameras and web-cams, encourages young people to create a virtual community and to exchange media and information through the social networking and video sharing sites.

Ultimately, EMN is helping young people from all walks of life discover their ability to shape and create their own future.
